New patients welcome!
What to Expect
Whether your child is 6 days old or 16 years old, his/her comfort is our top priority! Our team at Acorn Pediatric Dental will get to know your child — what they like and dislike — about being at the dentist. We love to learn about our patients as individuals, too! We enjoy hearing about their school life, sports teams, camps, vacations, and even the latest TikTok dances they’ve learned!
Your child’s first visit with us will always be an educational and informative experience. Our team will provide tips to get your child’s teeth in tip-top shape. At Acorn Pediatric Dental, your child’s oral hygiene is important to us and we pride ourselves on prevention.

Frequently Asked Questions
At which age should I take my child to the dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that your child should see a dentist within six months of their first tooth erupting, or by their first birthday — whichever is sooner!
The purpose of dental visits at a young age is to ensure that, as a parent, you’re establishing dental habits that support a lifetime of great oral health. Although early visits may be stressful for you as a parent, bringing in your child at a young age helps with future visits being stress-free!
Do I need insurance to take my child to the dentist?
Dental insurance is never needed at our office. We believe your child’s health comes first and every decision we make is guided by that belief. If you don’t have dental insurance, we’ll talk about payment options and financing at your first appointment.
It’s my child’s first time going to the dentist. What can I expect?
Our office is 100% welcoming and we do our best to make our little patients feel comfortable. We are excited you’ve chosen to trust us with your child’s dental health! We’ll assess your kid’s oral health and create a treatment plan that’s right for him/her.
Do you see infants for “first dental appointments”?
We see patients as young as a few days old until they’re off to college. It’s never too early to help your child start building a great relationship with their dentist and develop lifelong dental health habits! We’ve also received specialized training to perform infant tongue and lip tie evaluations and releases. Remember, first exams for kids 3 and under are free!
My child does have dental insurance. Will you accept it?
Our office is in-network with a variety of insurance providers. Call our office at (732) 852-9200 to learn more. At your child’s first appointment, we’ll review your benefits and provide an estimated out-of-pocket investment for your kid’s treatment plan.
What treatments do you offer?
As a pediatric dental office, we provide complete dental services for the younger members of your family! Our services include first dental exams, check-ups and cleanings, cavity fillings, tongue and lip tie releases, fluoride treatments, treatment with silver diamine fluoride, space maintainers, and sealants. Nitrous oxide or laughing gas is not always needed, but is often encouraged.
