Frequently Asked Questions
What will the appointment look like?
If your child is undergoing a dental procedure, Dr. Tesoriero will determine if they are a good candidate for nitrous oxide or IV sedation.
Before we begin your child’s treatment, we’ll let them choose a show or movie to watch. They can also ask for Archie, our friendly office doggo, to be with them for distraction, support, and company. We’ll administer sedation to your child a few minutes before we start the procedure
What’s the difference between nitrous oxide and IV sedation?
Both options allow children to feel calm while still being able to follow instructions. While nitrous oxide is a gas that’s delivered through a small nosepiece, IV sedation is given using a needle that’s inserted into your child’s vein.
Another difference is that the effects of nitrous oxide fade almost immediately once the procedure is completed, whereas IV sedation tends to linger a bit longer.
What type of sedation will you use?
The type of sedation will be determined by your child’s specific needs. Don’t worry, sedation options at our practice are child-safe and will allow your little one to relax while keeping them awake.
